About the Pasadena Shotokan Karate Dojo
Pasadena dojo was founded in April 2015. Evan Viera and Ron Lee, both 3rd degree black belts, are the lead instructors. They are members of Maryknoll Dojo and students of Tsutomu Ohshima, founder of Shotokan Karate of America (SKA).
Our students enjoy a direct link to ancient masters of martial arts through Sensei Ohshima and his teacher, Master Gichin Funakoshi. Sensei Ohshima is one of the last living students of Master Funakoshi. Master Funakoshi is known as the “Father of Modern Japanese Karate” as well as founder of Shotokan Karate. Shotokan Karate is the most well known and popular form of Karate in the world.
We strive to strengthen our body, mind and spirit, perfect our character and faithfully transmit the art to future generations.
